Double Frame Photo Project
Chica posted, over at her blog, Photo Projectz, offered up a project to create a "double frame composition" , and I decided to try it out.

I found that black and white worked better for this particular pair of photos, though I don't mind the coloured version either... I'll show both. :)

(The border is white... which of course doesn't show on the white background of my blog... but it's there... really... :p )

Whatchoo folks think??

Hey, that's kinda cool! Very useful for conveying the scope of a scene when there's a lot of 'nothing' in the middle, if you know what I mean.

That's cool, Moth!

Well I'm not seeing it on here anymore, but I did pop by yesterday and saw what ya had done, and I enjoyed it. You really understood the concept of it. :)

Hard to tell since it is invisible. But maybe that is the whole point...hahhaahha

Sorry folks. I made an edit to the photos (added a drop shadow so the 'frame' would show up... and then found that EFX2 was down, so I couldn't update my links. :(

I've made the change now, and the images should show again.

Pixie. Thanks. I think I understand what you're saying, but just to clarify... this isn't one photo "cut in half"... it actually is two different photos. The bridge can be seen in both images.

Deej. Thank ya. :)

Chica. Thank you as well. Glad you liked it, and thanks for the project idea. :)

Indigo... well... I hope you come back and see the actual photos... lol. (Stoopid blog going down. :p )

To all.... what's your thought on colour vs black and white on this one?

Posted by WelshPixie at 01:29, 3/30/2008 | Link
I know that Moth :) I meant more like a lot of nothing in the actual scenery... i.e. in this shot, maybe there's a huge field between the woman and the bridge that would be a lot of negative space in the image. Presenting the image in this way portrays the scene nicely, focusing on the main subjects of the scene and still managing to convey the scope and main elements, but in a much more concise manner. :)

Ahh, I understand now. :) It's a way to show a farther reaching range, with interesting foreground and background... without actually including all the empty space in the middle.

I think you're right... I didn't look at it that way before.

The black and white is nice, but I also like the color:)

Posted by mothman at 08:54, 3/31/2008 | Link
Thanks. I think I like the black and white better simple because the two pics 'blend' better... I tried to match the shade of green on both sides but couldn't get them to match and still look "real" .

Posted by Chica at 01:17, 3/31/2008 | Link
What you should have done before adjusting anything in the picture was to merge both sides together in a layer, then adjust them simultaneously that way. :)

Posted by mothman at 03:03, 3/31/2008 | Link
The problem was that both images had different colouring to start with... so I had to adjust each separately.

I was able to get the green similar in both shots, but then the images overall didn't look as good IMO.

Granted, I didn't fiddle with it for very long.

Yeah I just spent the last few hours re-building another one, complete with manually posting all 115 entries I had. http://photo-journeyz.blogspot.com/

you'll have to re-subscribe unfortunately.

It really bummed me out, but I think I'm ok now.
