Faceplant update
I had my appointment with my family doc today.

He agreed with the ER doc that what happened to me didn't sound at all like a seizure.

However... my eeg results DID show seizure activity. o_O Suffice it to say, I was shocked. I was convinced it would come out totally normal.

As it stands now, there's nothing much to report. My doc has referred me to a neurologist to look more carefully at things, and suggested it might mean medication to keep my brain activity properly in check. But in the mean time, "it's business as usual".

Sorry to hear that - but if there is something wrong, even if it's a shock, it's better to know and treat it. A friend of mine had something called "Petit mal" which is like a very mild kind of epilepsy where no fits happen but you black out occasionally. It can be controlled by medication - he wasn't allowed to drive till he'd had no recurrance for 5 years though - he's completely cured now.

I was sure too Shawn...but it's treatable so that's the good thing:) Just make sure to question him on the meds if he gives you any. They thought I was having seizures a few years ago, I was slurring words and getting really strange feelings, not sure how to explain, I think it was anxiety, but it was never diagnosed either way. But they put me on medication and it made me sleep for two days. I couldn't even get up. Unfortunately I can't remember the name of it, but I would know it if I heard it. Make sure it doesn't cause extreme drowsiness. I stopped taking it after the first week. But that was also about eight years ago, so I'm sure they have better ones now.

Chandramoon: Yikes, hopefully I'm not forced to stop driving... that would mean the end of my employment. o_O I can't see it going that way, as I've had one blackout, and it was something that I felt coming well before it happened. But yikes... yeah... hopefully it doesn't come to that.

Lisa: Definitely... not much point in medication that makes a person non-functional. >_<

Sorry I didn't mean to worry you even more!! I was trying to say that whatever it is, there's a treatment for it! When will you see the doc again - I hope you don't have to wait too long to have your mind put at rest. Hugs!

My family doc said I should probably be able to get in within one or two weeks.

Sheesh, I wish they could pinpoint something as an actual cause for all of this. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr! Want me to come kick some doc butt?
